here is a suggestion for using conditions instead of death saves in Dragonbane
Once a character drops to zero hit points
- At the start of their turn the player makes a CON roll to see if they can avoid receiving a new condition.
- If the character chooses to take an action on there turn this roll is made with a bane
- A failure means they receive one new condition of of there choice
- A dragon means they can shrug off one condition
- A demon means they receive 2 conditions
- Any damage means they receive an additional condition
- A crit means they receive 2 conditions
- Once all 6 conditions are taken the character is dead
- Another character can take an action to rally the player giving them a boon on the condition check
